J.T.M. Food Group Launches New PlantBorn Collection


HARRISON, OH – June 15, 2023 – J.T.M. Food Group, a leading provider of menu solutions for the foodservice industry, has launched PlantBorn™, a new collection of plant-based protein menu options for schools, colleges, universities, and food distributors across North America. The initial product line includes a taco filling and a pasta sauce. These slow-simmered, student favorites are made with Deeply Rooted® Farms Dehydrated Pea Protein Crumbles – a clean-label, allergen-free, plant-based crumble – and blended with J.T.M.’s signature sauces to create familiar menu options that are simple to serve and taste great.

The PlantBorn™ Taco Filling is seasoned with chili powder, onion, garlic, and cumin and works great for taco salads, nachos, rice bowls, tacos, burritos, flatbreads, and quesadillas. The PlantBorn™ Pasta Sauce is made with a blend of tomatoes, onion, garlic, and Italian seasonings and is great paired with pasta, on a flatbread or pizza, in a calzone or melt, and for speed-scratch lasagna and casseroles. Both products are vegan, allergen free and gluten free. They come packed frozen in boilable/steamable pouches, so they save the foodservice operator time while delivering scratch-quality flavor and menu versatility. Other meatless options in J.T.M.’s PlantBorn™ collection include Premium Three Bean Chili (vegan, AF, GF), Creamy Tomato Soup (GF), Broccoli Cheese Soup (GF) and Brown Gravy (vegan, AF, GF).

So far, the reviews for PlantBorn™ have been very positive, and we’re excited to bring these innovative, new menu options to foodservice operators across the country.”

J.T.M. recently sampled the PlantBorn™ Taco Filling with 200 7th and 8th grade students at South Dearborn Middle School in Aurora, Indiana. The taco filling was featured on a build-your-own burrito bowl line alongside fresh toppings like salsa and lettuce. The students did not know the taco filling was plant-based until after they had finished lunch and completed the survey. 90% of surveyed students who ate the taco filling replied, “Yes they liked the taste”, and 96% of surveyed students replied, “Yes they would eat it again.” The products have also been tested at schools in Georgia, Illinois, and California with similar results.
