J.T.M. Food Group's Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

March 13, 2020

RE: Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19

We have been closely monitoring this ever-evolving situation since it was first reported in China in December 2019. We are committed to doing our part to limit the spread of this disease.

We have two priorities in managing through this unusual situation:

1. Protecting the health and safety of our J.T.M. Team Members is extremely important. We've already taken steps to protect and educate them and are working to ensure the normal operation of business.

2. Ensuring our valued customers have an uninterrupted supply of our products.

Please note that Coronavirus or COVID-19 is not considered a food safety concern. There is no evidence that it can be transmitted by food or food packaging.

We will continue to operate normally as it relates to manufacturing, customer service and shipping/ receiving while implementing a few extra precautions listed below.

Travel

There will be NO travel by J.T.M. employees for 2 weeks. In addition, J.T.M. will not allow visitors at J.T.M. facilities for two weeks. We will continue to monitor this fluid situation and revise the restrictions as necessary.

J.T.M. Team Members

To help protect our J.T.M. Team Members and communities, we’re following the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including taking the following measures:

  • Requiring all sick J.T.M. Team Members to stay home.
  • Promoting frequent handwashing, as well as sneezing etiquette. o Hand sanitizer stations located in numerous locations throughout the campus.
  • Routinely cleaning frequently touched surfaces in the workplace.
  • Trained professionals taking temperatures of employees before the start of shifts to ensure their temperature is less than 100.4º. If it is near or above 100.4º they will be separated from other employees and sent home immediately.
  • Training from ServSafe “Preparing for the Coronavirus: Steps for Foodservice and Restaurant Readiness “as well as other sources.
  • Adding more dedicated people to execute intensive cleaning and sanitizing activities in our manufacturing facilities.
  • Holding our Temporary Labor Provider to the same standards as J.T.M.
  • Eliminating guest/customer visits of all J.T.M. facilities. Only employees who work in the facility are allowed access for two weeks.

Operations / Supply Chain

Protecting our business operations is also extremely important. We continue to emphasize Good Manufacturing Practices for sanitation in all food production and storage areas and to emphasize sanitation measures in all other common areas.

We are closely engaged with each part of our supply chain to manage and prevent disruption of supplies, production and distribution. We have business measures in place designed to help ensure supply and are actively working to identify risks and find alternatives to any part of our supply chain that could be affected by this outbreak.

Food Safety

Coronavirus, or COVID-19, is not considered a food safety concern.

The CDC says “currently there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with food.” USDA reports “There is no evidence at this time to suggest that the Coronavirus is a foodborne pathogen.” According to a statement from the FDA, “We are not aware of any reports at this time of human illnesses that suggest COVID-19 can be transmitted by food or food packaging.”

Food safety is our #1 priority at J.T.M. Food Group. Our staff of food safety professionals will continue their work to ensure the products we provide remain safe and wholesome.

Continued Monitoring

You can be assured we will continue to adjust and adapt to address this fluid situation. We’re committed to protecting our J.T.M. Team Members and ensuring we can continue to supply safe, affordable, high quality food to our customers and consumers.
